Moran Senior Secondary School ( formerly known as Moran Junior College ) was established in 2002, with the intention to impart quality education Moran and in the nearby areas. Along with imparting knowledge, we also focus on the personality development of our students by arranging yoga classes and other activities which help them to creative and also to focus on their studies.
Prasanta Dutta, M.A
Principal & Founder, Moran Senior Secondary School
Born in 1971 in Ban Rajabari, Nitaiphukhuri, Assam, Prasanta Dutta is the founder and Principal of Moran Junior College. He received his primary education at Jamia Rajabari LP and ME School, and his higher secondary education in science from Moran College. He pursued his Bachelor's Degree from Pragjyotishpur College, Guwahati followed by M.A Degree in Political Science from Dibrugarh University. He later pursued another Master’s degree in Assamese from Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University.
In 2002, with a vision for educational excellence, he founded Moran Junior College alongside few like-minded persons leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of education in the region. He has been serving as the Founder Secretary of the Auniati University and later served as the Founder Registrar of the University. His contributions extend beyond academia, as evidenced by his tenure as Former President of Moran Sakha Sahitya Sabha and Lions’ Club of Moran. He’s currently serving as the President of Sangeet Satra Moranhat and the Vice-President of Moran Milita Silpi Samaj. His commitment to community welfare is evident through his involvement as a life member of various esteemed organizations such as the Red Cross Society of India, Assam Sahitya Sabha and Xodou Assam Kabi Sanmilan. His contributions have been acknowledged through accolades such as the “Best organizer" from Xodou Assam Mahila Karmasari Sanstha and “Best event organizer" from Lioness Club of Moran.
Dr. Prafulla Hazarika, MA, PhD
President, Moran Senior Secondary School (Formerly- Moran Junior College)
Born (June 2, 1956) Dr. Prafulla Hazarika completed his MA and PhD in Economics from Dibrugarh University, Assam. He actedas HoD of Economics at Demow College, Sivasagar for about three decades and he was an Approved Research Guide of Dibrugarh University, Assam.
Dr. Hazarika was the founder of the Charogua High School, Charogua in 1984 and the Sunny Rose English Medium School, Rajmai in 1990; alsohe functioned as Founder President of both the institutions. He served as Guest Lecturer in “the Assam Cooperative Training Institute,”Joysagar and “theRongpur P.G. Institute,”Sivasagar for some years and as full time lecturer inDemow College,Sivasagar till his retirement in 2016.
A skilled and hardworking economist of Assam, Dr. Hazarika has several number of research papers to his credit, published in national and international journals. His research papers have covered diverse field of study such as Child Labour, Cooperatives,reproductive health of women, migration, and Gender Equality, etc.
Dr. Hazarika has anumber published books to his credit, a few of them are: Poverty in Assam (1990), Child Labour in India (2004), Consumers’ Cooperatives in Assam (PhD Thesis), Analysis of Welfare Economics (2007), Reproductive Demography of Tribal Women in Assam, The Economic Issues of Assam (2016). He has completed three research projects and five research scholars have successfully achieved their PhDs under his guidance. His personally executed program was “PROTYYOI” – for Child Labour abolition.
Dr. Prafulla Hazarika has now taken over the charge of Moran Senior Secondary Schools (Formerly- Moran Junior College) as its President.
